With formats of this nature there are a ton of “what ifs” that get tossed around. I am conservsative in how I handle unbans. With Splinter Twin getting an unban for this format, combo had another piece added to it. I am going to detail some potential unbans for other archetypes that will be trialed as time goes on. If they pass, then the unban will happen and we get to jam some fan favorites!
Potential Unbans

AGGRO
Bloodbraid Elf I have seen listed in a MTGGoldfish video as “dying for the sins of Deathrite Shaman”. Now I do not have initimate knowledge of Modern during that period, but I have played a similar format with it unbanned and it was a fun addition that did not warp the game too much. This piece would give aggro a fantastic upgrade, as well some midrange piles like the beloved Jund.
CONTROL
Here is the old MTG poster boy himself, Jace, the Mind Sculptor. This is my most wary unban. Ideally I would love to see this get added to the control shell to give them a fantastic finisher and support piece. Out of the 3 cards on this list, this has my largest reservations. I fear that Twin would be the largest benefactor from this card. I hope we get to jam this out, but I do have my reservations
MIDRANGE
Stoneforge Mystic is a card I would very much like to see it come off of the banlist. This card could help aggro, but I believe fits much more into the midrange zone. I really enjoy the playstyle of Bant Blade from old. There is no Jitte in this format, so it will be primarily Swords and Batterskull. My only fear with this is a super nasty version of Eldrazi n Taxes with this constantly being flickered and jamming up board states.
Potential Bans

LANTERN OF INSIGHT
I know that is archetype of Lantern Control is a favorite of some players. I see potential issues with this card for both remote play, and in the future, tournament play. I am not new to the realm of “slow the game down and do nothing” decks, since I often play against Stasis in Premodern. But the major differences I have found between the two is that Stasis you can beat from the top of your deck, Lantern makes it so that you do not draw well. I will consider this ban, but it is on my watch list for match quality of life, as well as tournament quality of life.
